Which IPL is better

There are two IPL going on right now in our, TV, newspaper and every where. The Indian Political League and another Indian Premier League in SA.

Though its a different game altogether the format is same 20-20. The IPL in India involves leaders who spend around 20 days in a constituency asking for vote and then vanishes till again the next IPL comes. In these 20 days you can make and tell the leaders what ever you want. They are thick skinned and doing all this exercises in the want of money and position. Once the voting day goes they are all gone. During this 20 days they put in all their effort to win over the public. They can do anything for a vote in this 20 days. We just need to ask them to do a thing and they will do it for us. They have their hand folded and they are all humble. By look at them you cannot imagine they can do any crime or can have black money stuffed in the Swiss bank or can say lies left right or center.

We have film stars, cricket stars and what not. We are glued to the TV sets with our popcorn and drinks watching the drama unfold. We discuss and break our heads over a cup of coffee or a glass of drink or tea of what they say, the rhetoric they use the silly anecdotes. We are all entertained. Its a nice pass time after a stressful days work. Its all splashed over the news paper and TV. Sometime when they get slippers for the voters that's more interesting day news.

When one gets over we wait for another to start.

Think about the cricket IPL. We have film stars donning their team colors, flags shouting, screaming, laughing or biting their nails at the turn of events. We have cheerleaders who are entertaining us. We have on field quarrels, dirty stares at the opponent and some times choicest of words flung around. Its all so similar. Like the slippers gives us some additional entertainment the super over gives us the same feeling. Its the same relaxing media after a days stress. Come home relax your self and enjoy the so called cricket. Its cricket which does not requires any skills or brain unlike test cricket. Similarly the politician does not require any brain or any education or any back ground. To be a politician you need to be thick skinned and deaf to everything.

Both the IPL are fighting over space for popularity in the media. Both are using the best possible way to entertain the voters and viewers to get one better than the other. At the end we are all enjoying the spectre. After all its the generation of quick things. We don't have time to think, to decide to ponder what we need in life.

In all ways these IPL gives us entertainment and gives us a reason to forget our worries and relax for a bit. Its only good thing is that it brings the family together for few hours everyday. Else where do we have the time

Once it gets over we will wait for the next one to come up. Till then we don't know what will we do....

Should we vote or not vote

Yesterday seeing all the news channels I found media is criticizing people of Mumbai and nation in general for not coming out and vote.

Its a bad thing not to vote. But think about it where do we have the motivation to vote. The same old faces rules our nation for ages. Nothing changes. Every election they come out with promises to fulfill which remains unfulfilled. People vote more in rural areas and other slum areas. Voting is always less in metros and big cities and towns where literacy rate is low. I feel the reason is as follows

1. People are not impressed with present political parties and their agenda and lack of principle. For e.g. Left, RJD, SP are fighting against the Congress but they say they may support the govt. What's the use of voting in such environment when these are the principle they follow. They ask for vote against a party and after results they go and join hand. Trinamool in WB is fighting along side Congress against the left. They are silent about their step if Congress takes left support.

2. Where are the leaders whom people will listen. Its same old tape being chanted in all campaigns. They don't speak they read out. How many people in the town and cities go voluntarily to listen. Most are taken by some event management company and you will those similar faces in another parties meeting. Sonia, Manmohan, Advani and other leaders speech is hardly impressive. Well earlier there was Indira Gandhi, Joyti Basu, Vajpayee, Chandrashekar, JP, Charan Singh, NTR, Bidhan Roy, SS Roy, Atulya Ghosh, MGR, Sanjay Gandhi whose speeches use to move people. People use to go on their own to listen and then vote. I feel with so much media coverage round the year of the parties public meeting seems to have lost the the usefulness. It no use now. I don't think public is moved by these things. People are disillusioned and not interested.

3. People are fed up. The affidavits which are filed before election is a farce. Do you think educated people will believe that person having a 5 cr asset doesn't have a car. Some leaders declaration is itself farce. Sonia Gandhi is just worth 1 cr. Do parties people believe this.

I think before making people vote specially the educated urban people parties must revamp lot of things. They should make themselves accountable and be honest.

Election commission should bring a law that parties can align with only those whom they have pre poll alliances. This will give more clarity to citizen who are voting.
